DNSimple

DNS and domains made simple.

  1. What you get with DNSimple
  2. How the integration works
  3. Good to know

DNSimple has spent more than a decade doing one thing deliberately well: DNS for developers. No upsells, no sprawling product suite — just fast anycast nameservers, a clean control panel and one of the best-documented DNS APIs in the business. That API focus is exactly what makes it a natural fit for Rocketeers, which keeps your records pointed at the right servers as your sites evolve.

What you get with DNSimple

  • DNS records created and updated automatically when you launch or move sites.
  • Anycast nameservers for fast, resilient resolution worldwide.
  • An API-first provider — automation is DNSimple's core use case, not an afterthought.
  • Domain registration and DNS under the same roof, so everything lives in one account.
  • No more manual record edits or propagation guesswork.

How the integration works

Generate an API access token in your DNSimple account — account-level tokens work best for teams, user tokens for personal setups — and add it to Rocketeers. From then on, Rocketeers uses DNSimple's REST API to create and update records: pointing domains at new servers, adjusting records during migrations and adding the TXT records that email and certificate verification require. Every change shows up in DNSimple's own record history.

Good to know

  • DNSimple is subscription-based: plans are billed per account, with DNS management included in the tier rather than priced per zone.
  • Both user and account tokens are supported; account tokens are the better choice for teams because they aren't tied to one person.
  • Secondary DNS and vanity nameservers are available on higher plans if you want redundancy across providers.
  • The API is versioned and stable — DNSimple has run v2 for years without breaking changes.
